Some people are just passengers in our lives. Some, teach us something before they leave us. There is also a smaller group that, after they are gone, leaves us a mark, like a scar that will always be part of us. And, although sometimes with some pain, I would rather cross paths with this small group of people.
The number of people I have met is countless. But I can count on one hand the number of great people who touched my life in a meaningful way. Truth be told, I would love that some people were still part of my life, but it would be selfish of me to deprive other people of having their lives touched by them. Besides, life is made of cycles.
Still, there are people who, even after they disappear, seem to always be there. People who leave their mark. People who show us that we cannot settle for less than what they offered us. People who, unintentionally, spoiled us. Because once you know them, once you live with them - no matter how long - nothing less than what they made you feel will satisfy you. Once you've tasted the best, it's hard to go back to basics.
For my part, I have a starting point. I know the level of satisfaction I've reached, and I won't settle for less than what I deserve - than what I can get. I don't care if it's the same, it'll be wonderful. If it's better, maybe it'll ruin it. Or maybe, just maybe, the best will be extraordinary. But anything less than what I've already had, I can live without it, thank you very much.
